Asa pronounced 'Asha'

I've become that blogger that starts a post in May and finishes it in August.. awful, shabby! Shabby good, I'm busy, always a good look in my book and shabby bad because i'm running late, late on myself (dangerous territory). But it's still the good stuff. Stuff like Nigerian pop soul sensation Asa, you all know Asa the original technicolor, incredibly fabulous Yoruba Naija chick right?. If your clueless the story of Asa.. pronounced 'Asha' 

" begins in Lagos, Nigeria where she found a home in her father's extensive and eclectic collection of records from soul classics to traditional Nigerian music. Starting to sing at a young age, Asa was inspired by the sounds and messages of artists such as Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey who served as touchstones when she later began crafting her own songs. It wasn't until she was studying in Paris that she truly formed her musical style, immersing herself in the songs of her musical contemporaries — Erika Badu, D'Angelo, Rafel Saadiq, Lauryn Hill and Angelique Kidjo".... taken from Asa.com 

Nothing unusual there but why she's on my radar is because Asa is different she's so Nigerian, but not typically. She comes with her own unique flavour its alot West London Ladbroke Grove and Paris rolled into one. Like I said not typically Nigerian. Gotta plug these video's, tracks taken from her new album 'Beautiful Imperfection'. They get my vote for 50's / 60's retro treatment. Meaning nod of approval for styling, direction, director of photography plus musically she's just plain old, good clean pop/soul fun with the 'move me' factor.
